Mercy Girl Effect Assembly Underlines Importance of Aid to Mercy Wings

Sister Deirdre Mullan, RSM, the Coordinator and one of the founding members of the Mercy Girl Effect, offered a special presentation to the Mount community on the morning of October 14, which inspired all to understand the importance of this year's 2026-2027 initiative.

Earlier this year, members of the Student Council Executive Board announced plans to sponsor several activities to raise $5,000 for the Mercy Girl Effect to support young women who are part of Mercy Wings, a vocational school in Guyana.

This initiative will help to provide scholarships for girls who attend Mercy Wings and other school needs. At Mercy Wings, students learn trade skills to specialize in a certain field. Young mothers who attend are provided with childcare as well while attending school. Both the scholarships and childcare will help girls and women around the world achieve their way to an education and a better life.

Stay tuned to learn more about the activities planned to raise funds for this special project.
