Coach Maldonado is a New Jersey native and graduate of West Morris Central High School. She continued her playing career at the NCAA Division I level at Sacred Heart University, where she was a member of the Pioneers’ 2009 Northeast Conference Championship team. Her experiences as a collegiate athlete continue to shape the way she approaches competition, leadership, teamwork, and player development.
Now entering her 15th year of coaching, Coach Maldonado has worked with athletes at both the club and high school levels and is entering her fifth season as Head Varsity Softball Coach at Mount Saint Mary Academy, where she is also the school's Dean of Students. She is also currently a coach with the NJ Batbusters, one of the region's highly regarded and competitive club softball organizations.
At the heart of Coach Maldonado's softball program, however, is something far more personal: the opportunity to coach alongside her father, Coach Dan. Coach Dan serves as the team's assistant coach, making the program a true family endeavor and allowing them to share a passion for the game that has been part of Coach Maldonado's life since childhood. Together, they bring different perspectives, experiences, and strengths to the dugout while maintaining a shared commitment to the development and well-being of every athlete.
This father-daughter partnership is a defining part of the program's identity. They have built a family-oriented culture rooted in trust, accountability, genuine care, and the belief that every player deserves to feel seen, supported, and challenged. While they are deeply committed to teaching the fundamentals of the game and competing at a high level, they are equally committed to creating an environment where athletes can grow in confidence, resilience, leadership, and character.
As both an educator and coach, Coach Maldonado believes athletics are one of the greatest classrooms for teaching life lessons. She loves the competition and the process of developing fundamentally strong softball players, but she is even more passionate about helping young women discover what they are capable of and learn how to navigate challenges as part of a team. She believes the relationships formed within a team can leave a lasting impact long after the final game has been played.
For Coach Maldonado and Coach Dan, the goal extends beyond wins and losses. They want every athlete who comes through their program to leave as a better softball player, and as a stronger leader, teammate, and person.
