Election Fair Sponsored by Civic Engagement Club, APGOPO

On Tuesday, Mount Saint Mary Academy brought democracy to life at our annual Election Fair! Hosted by the Civic Engagement Club and Joanne Cadigan-Peters’ Social Studies students, the fair gave students an opportunity to explore the election process, discuss the candidates and issues shaping our country, and predict the balance of power in the House and Senate.

A special thank-you to our Civic Engagement Club members and Social Studies students for their hard work and enthusiasm in making the day a success!

"Democracy works best when people participate. Our students showed the importance of staying informed, asking questions, and getting involved," said Mrs. Cadigan-Peters.

Presentation topics included:
  • Campaigns & Political Messaging, Political Opinion & Voting
  • Voting Rights/Political Participation, Voting Rights History
  • What You Need to Vote
  • Significant Midterm Elections (throughout history), Historical Elections
  • Progression of Voting Rights in the U.S.
  • Campaigns from the Early Republic, Campaign Technology
  • Is What You See About Elections True?
  • Political Parties
  • Liberty, Luck & Trivia
  • Senate Midterm Elections, 2026 Midterm Battlegrounds (House of Representatives)
  • Money & Elections
“I was so proud to see our students embrace the spirit of Election Day. Their curiosity and enthusiasm made the fair a wonderful success," added Mrs. Cadigan-Peters. "The day is especially meaningful because seven of our seniors will head to the polls after school to vote for the very first time! What an exciting milestone for these young women. Moments like these remind me why teaching civic engagement matters. I hope our students recognize that their voices matter and that they have a role to play in shaping their communities and their country.”
