It was a musical morning at the Mount on January 17 as the Cornell University Chorus and Glee Club visited the Mount as a stop during their Northeast Tour. After rehearsing in Chapel, they held a Master Class for members of our Chorale, doing vocal warm-ups and teaching them one of their tour songs and a South African song of prayer entitled, “Bawo, Thixo Somandla.” Before departing, the ensembles performed for each other and the Cornell Chorus and Glee Club sang the Cornell Alma Mater.

Jacqueline Muratore, Assistant Directress for Faculty, Curriculum, and Planning, was a member of the Chorus when she attended Cornell. She said, "I had some of the best times of my life while I was an undergraduate student at Cornell, and singing with the Cornell University Chorus those years made my college experience truly incredible. I am so happy that we were able to share their beautiful music, rich tradition, and collegiate choral singing with our Mount Chorale students through this Master Class experience. I could tell that our girls were blown away by their tremendous talent and mature sound, and I know they benefited from this wonderful opportunity!"

Mia Pafumi, Music Department Chairperson, shared, "It was truly a beautiful and rewarding experience for our girls to exercise and rehearse with a professional choir like that of Cornell University’s! More than anything for our chorale and ensemble to experience CU's flawless performance of their repertoire was a joy to observe and hear."
