The Christmas season at Mount Saint Mary Academy was officially ushered in on Monday, December 8, as seniors processed into the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception to place their handcrafted ornaments on the tree. Monsignor William Benwell blessed the tree which was illuminated during a Liturgy marking the solemnity of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Sister Lisa D. Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress, welcomed the students, faculty, staff, as well as visiting grandparents of freshmen and seniors. While addressing the grandparents, Sister Lisa said, "Grandparents provide emotional support and a sense of family history that no one else in a family can provide. You are your granddaughter's cheerleaders and their role models. Your presence in your granddaughter's life is a blessing. Whether you are near or far, you bring something unique and irreplaceable -- love that is true, deep, steady, and unconditional."

"The world is a very complicated place these days, and you remind your grandchild to slow down and appreciate what matters - family, relationships, faith, and love," Sister Lisa added. "So, today, we honor you, we thank you, and we celebrate all the ways you influence your granddaughter's life. We pray for you during this Liturgy and thank you for coming to celebrate with us."

Following the Liturgy, grandparents enjoyed a special Tea in the Sister Lisa Gambacorto Theater with their granddaughters.
