Maria Pasqua '26 has received a Junior Travel Study Abroad Scholarship in study in Costa Rica during the summer from AATSP (American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese), an organization committed to recognizing student achievement and promoting language proficiency in the studies of Spanish and Portuguese.
“I hope to gain from this experience a firsthand account of the culture in Costa Rica,” said Maria. “Since I will be living with a host family, this is the perfect opportunity to see what life is like for communities there. We will be doing volunteer work in ecosystems as well. I am excited to see the impacts my peers and I can make.”
Madeline Albrittain, World Languages Department Chairperson and Spanish Teacher, said, “Study Abroad provides students with a fantastic opportunity for true language immersion and the opportunity to gain a global perspective. I look forward to having Maria share her service-learning experience with our class next year.”
