Michelle H. Daino
On the evening of January 31, Elizabeth Roper and Eileen Honicky of the College Counseling Department hosted “College Conversations: Student-Athletes,” a virtual information session for students and families. Joined by Nicole Valk, Senior Admissions Manager and Athletic Liaison Manager of the Office of Admission and Recruitment for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, attendees were provided information, resources and advice on the college admission and recruitment process.
Ms. Roper, a former collegiate coach and college admission professional, provided resources and guidelines from the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA. Ms. Valk shared factors in a student-athlete’s college search and considerations in the admission process, and how coaches and Admission offices work together. Ms. Honicky provided insight as a parent of a former collegiate student-athlete and her experiences advising high school student-athletes in the college journey.
