Wellness Day Inspires Mind, Body and Soul

In an effort to promote awareness about the importance of students taking care of themselves, the Mount's Student Assistance Committee hosted Wellness Day on Thursday, February 1. A wide variety of workshops were offered to give students the tools to support their physical and mental health. The day began with a motivational presentation entitled "Choose to Love, Choose ALOHA," from keynote speaker Kevin Wanzer. His empowering message focused on love, laughter, and leadership.

Throughout the morning, students attended workshops that spotlighted strategies for healthy relationships with food, body, and mind; staying safe in a virtual world; creative affirmations; overcoming sports anxiety; healthy relationships and dating violence; quieting the mind; substance abuse awareness; envisioning your future goals; street smarts and sensibility; and more. A drumming circle was facilitated by Jacqueline Muratore (Assistant Directress for Faculty, Curriculum, and Planning) and Kathleen Burke (former Mount theology teacher and alumna).

Kathleen Ketofsky, Student Assistance Counselor, noted, "With societal anxiety levels and well-being more of a concern, especially for our young women and men, having a focused effort on wellness has become essential. Through this program, students are offered tools to use in and out of school to help support their mental and physical health."
