A special Mount Saint Mary Academy tradition and celebration of sisterhood took place in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception on the morning of Monday, November 3, as members of the Class of 2027 received their class rings during a special Mass led by Reverend Mauricio Tabera Vasquez. The class theme was "Anchored in Mercy," and students chose "Somewhere Only We Know" as their class song. Following the Mass, juniors attended a luncheon at Ferraro's in Westfield after taking a keepsake photo with their banner on the Chapel steps.
During her remarks, Sister Lisa Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress, stated "Today is an important milestone; a great marker of the distance you have come since your first day as a terrified freshman. Your Mount ring represents the Core Values of the Sisters of Mercy, as it represents a school community that professes Gospel values as its foundation. Your class ring is not just any kind of jewelry that you can buy at a jewelry store or on Amazon. Your class ring is the Circle of Mercy - with no beginning and no end, representing unity, tradition, Core Values, and continuity within a moral compass and connection."
Sister Lisa concluded, "Years from now, your school ring may end up at the bottom of your jewelry box. But I know that there will be a time in your life when you will pick it up, dust it off, and reflect upon the memories of these days and the meaning of this school - our school. Not many times in life can serve as powerful reminders of your youth...your ring will, and may it always be anchored in love."
