"This was my second consecutive summer volunteering for the Henry Inman Library's Summer Reading Program, a role that gave me many new experiences and opportunities," shared Michaela. "Throughout the summer, I greeted library visitors, introduced them to the reading program, and actively promoted participation among children."
"Receiving an award from the mayor made me feel proud and appreciated, as it recognized the effort and commitment I put into my volunteer work," she said. "I believe my work strongly reflects the Mercy Core Value of Educational Courage. By encouraging young children to join the program, I helped inspire them to challenge themselves and broaden their horizons through reading. Seeing their excitement as they discovered new books was truly rewarding and motivated me to continue supporting literacy in my community."
At the Mount, Michaela is involved in Peer Facilitators, JV Volleyball, Speech and Debate, Euro Challenge, French Club, Future Medical Professionals, Mock Trial, Grace Notes, Buddies on the Hill, and NASA Hunch.
